Our first upscaled video clips capturing the return of Temple Bar to the City of London. The original footage was shot in Standard Definition on Mini DV tapes at 720 x 576i (interlaced) and then upscaled to Full HD 1080p.
Upscaling Standard Definition footage is a long process:
- Transfer mini DV tapes (720 x 576i)
- Deinterlace footage (a very slow process working frame by frame)
- Upscale SD footage to Full HD (it takes 7 seconds to render each frame)
We have so far transferred over 100 hours of video footage capturing the dismantling, restoration and rebuilding of the Temple Bar Gate.
All of the edited footage is currently being upscaled to HD.
We currently have no plans to release a DVD of the project, but we will be posting some videos on our website when available.
Please note that video footage of the restoration and the rebuilding of Temple Bar is not available to view.
